Nordic films are screened at the Sámi Cultural Center in Sajos
Are you a movie lover? If so, you have the opportunity to watch Nordic films at the Sámi Cultural Center in Sajos, Inari. The Nordic Film Series allows movie lovers to enjoy Nordic films once a month.
On Thursday, March 19, the Swedish film Amateurs will be shown. The film was directed by Gabriela Pichler in 2018. The film is 110 minutes long and has Finnish subtitles.
On Thursday, April 24th, the Greenlandic-Norwegian-Danish film Winter’s Yearning will be screened. When the American aluminum giant Alcoa decided to build its next factory in the fishing village of Maniitsoq, Greenland, hope arose amongst the villagers - could this even be the beginning of Greenland’s independence? But years went by and the big plans came to nought. The village lives in an endless state of waiting. The film follows a small society, people who long for development, which ultimately comes from a surprising direction.
The film was directed by Sidse T. Larsen and Sturla Pilskog . The 75-minute movie features English subtitles.
May 14: Icelandic film Woman at War / Kona fer í stríð . The film was directed by Benedikt Erlingsson 2018. Women at War is an original story of a brave woman who follows her heart, with Icelandic temperament and humor. The film is an Icelandic official Oscar nominee and has won the Nordic Council Film Prize and several film festival awards.
The 100-minute movie has Finnish subtitles.
On movie nights, Sajos’s main door is open from 5:30 pm to 6pm. Movies are shown once a month on Thursdays from 6pm. There will be an entrance fee.
