Layer up for the elements
Whether you’re planning a day on the slopes or giving cross-country a go, dressing right is the key. If you find yourself feeling a little too warm or too cold on the slopes or ski tracks, you’re probably not dressing right for the occasion!
Dressing in layers is especially important in the spring, because it can get pretty warm with the sun and the exercise. You can easily peel off layers as needed.
The principle of layering is simple: you need a good wicking base layer next to the skin, an insulating mid-layer and an outer layer, which protects you from wind, rain and moisture.
We recommend choosing thin, long socks for skiing. Special ski socks are also available.
You don’t need a thick woollen sock, because ski boots are quite warm. Even if your boots are the right size for you, really thick woollen socks can make them feel too snug or chafe your feet.
Helmets are also available for rent in the Ski Shop, but ski goggles are not. If you rent equipment for a longer period, you can store them overnight in the Ski Shop for a small fee.
